SMARTconverter 3 for Santiago de Chile Metro

The vehicle manufacturer CAF has ordered a further 13 SMARTconverter 3 from SMART Railway Technology GmbH for the new vehicles of the Santiago de Chile Metro. Around ten years ago, vehicles on lines 3 and 6 were already equipped with auxiliary power converters of type 140 kVA + 20 kW from SMART Railway.

The new auxiliary power converters of type SMARTconverter 3 have been technically enhanced and are state of the art. At the same time, they offer the proven functions and fit seamlessly into the existing vehicle concept - naturally also with regard to the available installation space under the train. Delivery will begin in May 2026.
